Venus Figures

The Venus Figure series grew out of the self portraits. Here I practiced on a narrow page that suggested a figure content. I was also inspired by the power of the Maori wood figures in the Oceanic Art collection at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. These Venus Figures are from a series of long early morning drawings made with my opposing hand and with my eyes closed. I refer to them as inner eye drawings.
